What is paver base?

A paver base is a compacted layer of graded aggregate that spreads loads, supports drainage, and limits settlement under segmental paving.

What paver base depth should I use?

Base depth varies with climate, soil, and traffic. Pedestrian patios often need 4–6 compacted inches (10–15 cm); driveways generally need more.

Should I enter loose or compacted paver base depth?

Enter the required finished compacted depth. Because loose aggregate consolidates during compaction, confirm with the supplier how much loose material is needed to achieve that finished depth.

How should paver base be compacted?

Place and compact the aggregate in thin lifts rather than one thick layer. Follow the paver manufacturer's requirements for lift thickness, moisture, and compaction equipment.
